Job summary

GBMC HealthCare seeks an Oncology Nurse to coordinate and communicate treatment plans with patients and families. The role includes triage, symptom management, and education within a multidisciplinary team.

The nurse will utilize the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to ensure comprehensive care and integration with clinical trials when applicable. Strong communication and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Assesses patients prior to therapy using physical assessment and interview techniques.
• Documents assessment data, toxicity criteria, pain and distress in the chart.
• Explains treatment plans and educates patients and families about labs, meds, and follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plan of care with the oncology team and patients/families.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, side effects, and follow-up steps.
• Administer therapies safely and monitor for adverse events.
• Document status and care plan in the EMR and communicate with the care team.
• Support continuous quality improvement and patient education.
