Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking Float Pool Registered Nurses to join our statewide Float Team. These roles provide vital coverage across Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion nursing units, rotating through clinics in the designated region—or across the state, depending on assignment.

Schedule is Full-time, Monday-Friday, daytime hours. Perks include No weekends, on-call, or major holidays, along with comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• 1-5 years of nursing experience (Oncology strongly preferred).
• Current and active RN license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills to thrive in diverse clinical environments.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or prior oncology/infusion/radiation experience is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care.
• Conducting health assessments, obtaining patient histories, and providing education.
• Offering psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Safely preparing and administering therapies (medications, blood products) in accordance with governing standards.
• Performing venipuncture, accessing ports, and maintaining central lines.
• Monitoring labs, facilitating dose modifications per protocol, and consulting with providers for orders.
• Managing triage calls, symptom management, and medication management with accurate documentation.
• Assisting patients in accessing community resources.
• Following the Float Pool Playbook for role- and assignment-specific expectations.
