Job summary

AbbVie in South San Francisco seeks an Executive Medical Director, Oncology Early Development to lead the design and oversight of complex oncology clinical programs from concept through regulatory submission.

You will manage cross-functional teams, ensure study integrity and safety data interpretation, and drive strategic plan development with investigators, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs and regulatory groups.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with relevant oncology specialty
• Residency completed; subspecialty fellowship desirable
• Minimum 5 years of clinical trial leadership in pharma/academic settings
• Experience with immune-oncology modalities desirable
• Ability to lead cross-functional global teams
• Strong English written and spoken communication

Responsibilities

• Leads multiple clinical development programs in support of the overall product development plan; oversees education of investigators and study staff
• Leads clinical study teams; ensures study integrity; reviews data for safety and efficacy; manages timelines
• Owns design, analysis, and reporting of protocols, Investigator Brochures, Clinical Study reports, regulatory submissions
• May oversee Medical/Scientific Directors; chairs Clinical Strategy Teams
• Acts as clinical expert and coordinates scientific activities; contributes to due diligence and translational strategies
• Engages opinion leaders and collaborates with Medical Affairs, Commercial to incorporate cross-functional input
• Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and represents AbbVie at external meetings
