Job summary

Specialist Staffing Group is seeking a Scientist II - Oncology Drug Discovery for a 6-month contract in Alameda, CA. The role focuses on developing cell-based assays and evaluating small-molecule inhibitors to advance oncology programs.

The candidate will design and run experiments, analyze data, and present findings to project teams while maintaining rigorous documentation and safety compliance in an onsite lab.

Qualifications

• BS with 4+ years or MS with 2+ years of relevant industry experience in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture in a biotech/pharma setting.
• Experience with cell viability assays, ELISA, AlphaLISA, compound screening, and small-molecule drug discovery.
• Proficient in data analysis, including dose-response curve generation and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze experiments supporting oncology research programs.
• Develop and perform cell-based functional, viability, and screening assays.
• Interpret data, prepare presentations, and communicate findings to project teams.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, documentation, and safety compliance.
• Contribute to method development and stay current with scientific literature.
