Job summary

Northwestern Memorial is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Registered Nurse in direct and indirect patient care on the unit under RN supervision. The role helps with admissions, routine monitoring, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include taking and recording vitals, assisting with daily living activities, transporting supplies, preparing rooms, responding to call lights, and supporting newborn care as needed.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or enrollment in nursing program required.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care activities including assistance with admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, height, and blood pressure for adults and neonates.
• Monitor intake and output and observe newborns in nursery.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and assist RN as needed.
• Assist with peri-care, morning/evening care, feeding support, and basic newborn care as directed.
• Transport patients, equipment and supplies safely; assist with post-operative care as needed.
