Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care. The role involves assisting with admissions and discharges, taking vital signs, and performing phlebotomy and glucose checks, while ensuring patient safety and comfort across units including newborn care when needed.

The ideal candidate will have CNA certification or active nursing student status, CPR/BLS, and a strong commitment to patient-first care.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing with basic clinical rotations completed.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum of 90% on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• Previous experience in a health care setting preferred with ability to relate to patients and staff.
• High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education or equivalent preferred.

Responsabilités

• Direct Patient Care: assists with admission, transfer, and discharge; takes vitals and records measurements.
• Monitor patients, assist with feeding, hygiene, and nutrition; respond to call lights promptly.
• Perform phlebotomy, glucose checks, and basic lab specimen collection as directed.
• Assist with post-operative care and safety, transport patients and equipment as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and stock supplies; participate in quality improvement activities.
