Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care on an inpatient unit. You will perform vital signs, assist with admissions and discharges, and help with newborn or pediatric care as needed.

Under RN supervision, you will ensure patient safety, respond to call lights quickly, and maintain a clean, safe environment while contributing to high-quality care and patient comfort.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification required or currently enrolled in nursing programs.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• High school diploma required; some college or nursing education preferred.
• Capillary blood glucose monitoring proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Record vitals and patient measurements (temp, pulse, resp, BP, weight).
• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision and assist with newborn care.
• Support post-op and routine care, including safety, bathing, feeding, and mobility.
• Transport patients and equipment as needed and respond to calls promptly.
