Job summary

Tampa General Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Oncology Patient Access Specialist 3 for the Thoracic Surgery team. You will gather and verify patient demographics, insurance details, and clinical information to prepare financially clear hospital procedures and visits.

In this role you will coordinate scheduling, pre-registration, and communications with patients, nurses, and carriers, ensuring compliance with CMS and JCAHO requirements while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience with scheduling, registration, insurance verification in a healthcare setting.
• Moderate expertise with computer programs including Microsoft Office and database programs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and scheduling pre-op testing within established guidelines and with high accuracy.
• Ability to obtain and verify demographic, clinical, insurance and financial information prior to the date of service.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for obtaining and verifying patient demographics, confidential clinical and financial information necessary to accurately and efficiently schedule patient visits, surgery, and other hospital procedures.
• Assists with patient check-ins, insurance notifications and authorizations for oncology scheduled hospital and TGMG services to support claim processing and reimbursement; follow-up calls post-surgery and appointments to patients and answers all staff messages.
• Recognizes and adheres to CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA requirements when validating the hospital account.
• Works with nurses, medical staff, insurance carriers, care management, scheduling, and other professionals to assist patients with health care and financial services.
