Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Eugene, OR to deliver on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and industry partners.

The role requires field work 50–85% travel, setup of derails and safety tools, daily field reports, and coordination with train crews. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years in a railroad environment, a valid driver’s license, and successful completion of

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones and communication tools for coordination.
• Strong verbal and written communication and attention to detail.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setup of derails, track signs and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination for rail work.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear and thorough job briefings with all crew members before entry to track.
• Enforce Railroad, State and Federal Policies.
