Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Burns, OR to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The role ensures safe work on rights-of-way and requires strong communication and field coordination. Qualifications include 2+ years in a railroad environment (MOW preferred), proficiency with mobile devices, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel long durations.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and coordinated communication tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably MOW.
• Ability to complete Federal/Client/Company training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety by setting up derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate safety status.
• Conduct mandatory job briefings with all crew members before entering track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
