Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is seeking an Employee in Charge to provide essential on-track safety services in Rock Springs, WY, supporting freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

The EIC role ensures work on the rights‑of‑way is conducted safely. Responsibilities include setting up derails and safety tools, preparing daily field reports, coordinating job-site activities, and maintaining radio contact with dispatchers and crews.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience, preferably in maintenance of way (MOW).
• Ability to travel extensively (50%–85%).
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools for coordinating train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety setup (derails, track signs, safety tools).
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate safety status.
• Conduct thorough job briefings with all crew before entry to track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
