Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Based in Durango, CO, you will oversee safety on rights-of-way and coordinate with dispatchers and crews. You will lead job-site safety briefings, set up safety tools such as derails and signs, prepare daily field reports, enforce policies, and maintain clear communication with train

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Proficient with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as setup of derails, track signs, and other safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before they enter the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.
