Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and industry partners in Charlotte, NC.

The role requires coordinating train movements via tablets and smartphones, strong communication, and travel up to 85%. A High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years in a railroad setting (preferably MOW) are required, with training completion expected.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets, smartphones and coordination tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods (50–85%).
• Valid Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a railroad company, preferably MOW.
• Must complete Federal, Client and/or Company training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety: set up derails, track signs and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise job briefings with all crew members before entering the track.
• Enforce Railroad, State and Federal policies.
