Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Bangor, ME to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads and transit systems. You will coordinate safety, track operations, and reporting in a demanding field environment.

The role requires travel up to 85% and excellent communication, with a focus on safety briefings, adherence to policies, and collaboration with dispatchers and crews across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Proficient with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools for coordinating train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Willingness to travel 50–85% of the time; extended periods away from home.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety measures (derails, track signs, safety tools).
• Prepare daily field reports and note rule violations.
• Coordinate job-site activities and safety with crew.
• Maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to relay safety status.
• Lead mandatory, clear briefings with all crew before track entry.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
