Placements24 client in the Oil & Gas sector seeks a Wellsite Geologist to join the on-site team near Randburg, Gauteng. The role focuses on real-time monitoring of drilling operations, formation evaluation, lithology identification, and ensuring safe, data-driven decision making from the rig.

You will log cuttings and cores, analyze data against offsets and seismic signals, report daily geology and drilling insights, coordinate with mud loggers and drillers, and participate in post-well reviews.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Wellsite Geologist in upstream oil and gas.
• Strong lithology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology knowledge.
• Experience with well logging tools and data interpretation.
• Ability to work in remote rig environments and under pressure.
• Excellent observational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with geological software for data logging and reporting.

Aufgaben

• Monitor drilling progress and observe geological formations being drilled.
• Log cuttings and core samples, identifying lithologies and documenting geological features.
• Analyze geological data in real-time to correlate with offset wells and seismic data.
• Identify and interpret potential hydrocarbon shows.
• Communicate geological information and recommendations to the drilling team and management.
• Ensure proper sampling, preservation, and dispatch of geological samples.
• Prepare daily drilling and geological reports.
• Assist in the selection and supervision of mud logging services.
• Recognize and report drilling hazards such as loss of circulation, kicks, and abnormal pressures.
• Participate in post-well geological reviews and data integration.
