Job summary

Avangrid’s telecommunications organization is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient utility-grade communications across a large service territory. The role covers IP networking, transport, mobile radio, and point-to-point links for SCADA, field operations, and corporate connectivity.

You will design enterprise WAN/LAN, manage LMR systems, and deploy backhaul links while ensuring high availability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
• Must be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize enterprise WAN/LAN, MPLS, fiber, microwave.
• Engineer and maintain LMR systems (VHF/UHF, P25, DMR).
• Deploy microwave and fiber P2P links for substation backhaul and SCADA.
• Implement BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, ACLs, and QoS on Cisco platforms.
• Ensure security with VPN, MACsec, 802.1X, and NERC‑CIP controls.
• Support DWDM, SONET, and carrier‑grade Ethernet services.
