Job summary

Avangrid is seeking an experienced Energy Control Systems (ECS) engineer to support gas distribution operations in Vestal, NY. The role focuses on SCADA databases, RTU configuration, testing, commissioning, and system design enhancements for reliable control and cybersecurity alignment.

You will contribute to the ECS roadmap, coordinate commissioning, and ensure safe operation across stations and interconnecting facilities, while collaborating with a skilled team.

Qualifications

• BSEE degree with 7+ years of technical experience or MS in a technical field with 3+ years of experience.
• Theoretical engineering knowledge across planning, operations and design, plus analytic modeling capabilities.
• Practical engineering experience in planning, operations and design with potential for economic analyses.

Responsibilities

• Understand gas transmission and distribution systems and energy flow analysis.
• Configure, commission and test RTUs; develop testing plans.
• Interpret Control System Architecture drawings and P&IDs; ensure compliance with specs.
• Maintain ECS documentation and ensure regulatory compliance (NERC-CIP).
• Coordinate commissioning of new/modified PACs/RTUs and related instrumentation.
• Collaborate across departments; provide technical leadership and mentoring.
