Job summary

Unisource seeks a telecommunications/network engineer to design, deploy, and support critical communications for electric grid operations. The role focuses on fiber, microwave, RF, and IP/MPLS networks supporting SCADA, AMI, and grid automation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution; Electrical/Telecom/CS related field preferred.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including switching, routing, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, WAN tech and IP/MPLS networks.
• Experience with critical infrastructure comms systems including fiber optics, RF, microwave, wireless and OT networks.

Responsibilities

• Design network and telecom solutions for integration across business units with scalable, cost-effective architectures.
• Engineer, deploy, and maintain fiber, microwave, licensed/unlicensed wireless, cellular and RF networks.
• Support SCADA, AMI, grid automation and tele-protection with secure, reliable data transmission.
• Lead or support telecom and network capital projects from planning through execution and vendor coordination.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and implement upgrades with a focus on security and regulatory compliance.
• Create design specs and documentation for substations and control centers; ensure standards adherence.
