Job summary

Delve Underground is seeking a Construction Inspector for our Chicago office, focused on water and wastewater projects. This on-site role supports our Construction Management Practice with field inspections and daily reporting.

The successful candidate will have tunnel/construction experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on heavy civil projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in heavy construction, inspecting tunnels or pipelines.
• Experience on at least one tunnel project, including trenchless.
• Knowledge of construction processes and industry practices.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to wear PPE and perform physical tasks (lift up to 40 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Observe and report contractor work; prepare daily inspection reports.
• Review field submittals, RFIs, plan clarifications, geotechnical data, CPM schedules.
• Monitor material delivery and on-site activities.
• Ensure progress complies with documents, safety standards and agency requirements.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Use PIMS or other systems to prepare inspection reports.
