Job summary

Solaris Energy Infrastructure, Inc. seeks a Microgrid Field Engineer to design, build, and commission power systems for data centers and AI infrastructure.

This hands-on, travel-heavy role requires troubleshooting high-voltage equipment nationwide and engaging with customers on-site to deliver reliable microgrid solutions. You'll work with protection relays, switchgear, and EC designs while ensuring safety and compliance with NFPA and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/related field or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years in power systems design, analysis, testing, or field service.
• Willingness to travel extensively (75%+) across the continental U.S.
• Residence within a two-hour drive of a major airport.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites nationwide to commission, troubleshoot and maintain power systems.
• Serve as on-site technical contact with customers and operations teams.
• Develop, test, and troubleshoot protective relay settings for HV equipment.
• Support FAT testing of equipment from OEMs such as Solar Turbines, GE, Pratt & Whitney.
• Ensure safety and compliance with NFPA, NESC, IEEE standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project improvements.
• Create and maintain power budgets, metering, and system documentation.
• Perform design reviews for microgrid and power delivery projects.
