Job summary

MBP (McDonough Bolyard Peck) seeks a NCDOT Transportation Inspector (Levels 1–2) to monitor roads and structures for conformance, document field activities, and support junior inspectors. Responsibilities include on-site QA, material testing, and coordination with agency and contractor teams.

Applicants should have construction inspection experience, the ability to read plans, operate MS Office and MBP systems, and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification required or obtainable within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site inspection and QA of roadway/structure construction.
• Perform required materials testing.
• Conduct basic surveying and field measurements; advise contractors.
• Prepare and maintain project records and diaries.
• Prepare monthly project estimates and sketches with calculations.
• Assist in training and development of trainee inspectors.
• Verify traffic control setups meet standards.
• Log materials/test reports in client/project management software.
• Communicate with agency, contractor, MBP personnel.
• Complete daily timesheets and expense reports.
• Maintain certifications required for duties.
• Support scheduling coordination and branch activities.
• Recommend rejection of work as delegated by Project Owner.
