Job summary

MBP (McDonough Bolyard Peck) seeks an experienced NCDOT Transportation Inspector (Levels 3 & 4) for on-site support on transportation construction projects in Asheville. You will monitor roadway and structure construction, ensure conformance with plans, contracts, specs and codes, and guide field observations and documentation.

Responsibilities include preparing monthly estimates, coordinating with agency and contractor personnel, training junior inspectors, and maintaining project records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• OSHA 10/30 certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Basic mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Construction-related training or coursework relevant to road/bridge work.
• Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools used in monitored work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadway and structure construction on-site for conformance to plans and specs.
• Perform required materials testing and basic surveying to verify line and grade.
• Document field observations, prepare diaries, and assist with monthly reports.
• Coordinate with agency/contractor personnel and communicate professionally.
• Oversee scheduling, training of junior inspectors, and maintain logs in project systems.
• Verify traffic control setups meet standards and support client systems.
