Job summary

MBP is seeking a NCDOT Transportation Inspector (Levels 1 & 2) to support roadway and structure inspection for DOT projects. The role advances from entry-level inspection to lead project inspection, guiding junior technicians and ensuring quality control on site.

Responsibilities include on-site conformance checks, materials testing, documentation, and coordination with agency and contractor personnel. A focus on training and cert maintenance is emphasized, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• OSHA 10- or OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for field measurements.
• Construction-related training or coursework in road/bridge construction or civil engineering.

Responsibilities

• Monitor roadway and structure construction for conformance to plans, specs, and codes.
• Perform materials testing and basic surveying.
• Prepare and maintain project records and daily diaries.
• Prepare monthly project estimates and sketches with algebraic/geometric calculations.
• Train and supervise junior inspectors as needed.
