Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer for an on-site Asset Management role at a client facility in Granite City, IL.

This field-based position requires independent work with support from Orbital's project team to translate inspections into actionable engineering solutions. The role covers structural assessment, repair design, and long-term asset planning, with emphasis on safety, quality, and compliance at industrial sites.

Qualifications

• BS in civil/structural engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum five (5) years of professional structural engineering experience in industrial environments.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software and Microsoft Office; experience with STAAD or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary engineering resource for structural asset evaluations and prioritize corrective actions.
• Review and interpret structural inspection findings and translate field data into evaluations and recommendations.
• Perform site visits to verify conditions and inform engineering decisions.
• Prepare engineering reports, condition assessments, and recommendations for client review.
• Develop repair scopes and capital recommendations; prepare calculations and repair drawings.
• Coordinate with office team to ensure repair solutions are sound and compliant.
• Support long-term asset management planning and maintain accurate records.
