Job summary

Onward Education is partnering with a Dakota County school district to hire dedicated Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. This on-site role supports elementary and middle school classrooms, providing highly individualized instruction in center-based settings.

You will implement and monitor IEP goals, use PBIS strategies, collaborate with families and a team of professionals, and help students access the curriculum while fostering social-emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License, preferably Tier 3 or Tier 4.
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• Experience providing specialized instruction and implementing IEPs for students with diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of Minnesota special education procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Previous experience supporting students with behavioral, social-emotional, or academic challenges preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and support within elementary and middle school center-based special education classrooms serving students with social communication, emotional regulation, and self-regulation needs.
• Teach academic content while supporting students' social-emotional growth.
• Implement and monitor IEP goals and accommodations.
• Utilize proactive behavior supports and PBIS strategies.
• Help students develop self-management, emotional regulation, and social communication skills.
• Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, school psychologists, social workers, and general education teachers.
