Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, INC. is seeking a Safety Specialist for the Columbia, SC area.

The role drives on-site hazard mitigation and occupational health initiatives by collaborating with frontline employees and supervision to identify, evaluate, and eliminate workplace risks while enforcing regulatory compliance and company safety standards. The Specialist also serves as a mentor for Safety Techs assigned to the project, conducting safety training and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Education may be considered in lieu of experience.
• OSHA 30 hour & 510/500 or willingness to obtain after 5 years of safety experience.
• NCCER CSSS or other approved professional certifications.
• Professional certifications like BCSP/STC/CSM are strongly recommended to include BCSP, CHST, IHMM, NASP.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce values and culture on the project site.
• Inspect facilities and task areas for safety hazards and ensure PPE use.
• Monitor safety performance and provide feedback to staff and supervision.
• Review JHAs for accuracy and proper hazard controls.
• Plan and manage all safety activities on assigned jobsites.
