Aston Carter is seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist in Fishkill, NY, to manage procurement activities for building materials and resale products. The role coordinates orders, negotiates with vendors, and aligns with internal teams to ensure on-time delivery in a fast-paced distribution setting.

The position is on-site in Fishkill with a focus on cross-functional collaboration across sales, inventory, operations, and accounting.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage multiple purchase orders and priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities for building materials, supplies, and resale products.
• Create, issue, track, and manage purchase orders from placement through delivery and receipt.
• Coordinate special-order materials and communicate pricing, lead times, and availability to internal teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors while negotiating pricing and monitoring delivery schedules.
• Source competitive freight rates and coordinate incoming shipments, including LTL, flatbed, and specialized transportation.
• Monitor inventory levels and work with internal teams to maintain stock availability.
• Troubleshoot shipment delays, damaged materials, shortages, incorrect orders, and other supply chain challenges.
• Maintain purchasing, inventory, and order data within the ERP system.
• Communicate proactively with sales regarding order status, timeline updates, and potential delivery issues.
• Partner with operations, accounting, inventory, and transportation teams to resolve purchasing and order-related concerns.
• Support cost-control initiatives through strategic purchasing and freight management.
