Job summary

Barge Properties is looking for a dependable Maintenance Staff member for our Abilene, TX community. This full-time, on-site role focuses on hands-on maintenance, preventive tasks, and coordinating repairs to keep residences move-in ready.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of building systems, is proactive about maintenance, and can operate effectively with resident requests while following safety standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of general building maintenance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience using maintenance management software is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally more with assistance.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily maintenance operations and support overall upkeep of the property.
• Assist with preventative and routine maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and building structures.
• Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.
• Maintain compliance with safety procedures, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with preventative maintenance schedule to reduce future repairs and extend equipment life.
• Assist with unit turns, ensuring apartments are move‑in ready on schedule.
• Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation using maintenance management systems when applicable.
