Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Denver, CO is seeking a Project Engineer to manage on-site project administration, cost control, scheduling, and coordination with owners, trade partners, and design professionals. You will support field supervisors, prepare monthly pay applications, track progress, manage equipment and materials, and lead meetings with stakeholders.

A 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management and 2–4 years on large commercial projects are required;

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects; Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Computer software proficiency: MS Office, Excel templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist the project manager and superintendents with monthly owner pay applications.
• Resolve interface conflicts between the company and trade partners, and among trade partners.
• Assist in interpretation of drawings, specifications, RFIs and questions for and from the architect/engineer.
• Develop and manage the cost control and labor recap with the PM and superintendent.
• Process and estimate all potential change orders and requests for information.
• Assist in development and management of the project schedule.
• Assist with engineering details and special design.
• Track and report on the progress of the project.
• Assist with production analysis studies.
• Manage timely acquisition of materials and equipment and field-initiated purchasing.
• Run weekly owner/architect/contractor meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
• Assist in monthly margin analysis.
• Update and maintain the project record utilizing the Book of 14.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and inspections.
• Facilitate the quality control plan and preparatory meetings.
• Assist in interpretation of BIM and VDC specs.
• Manage, train and mentor the office engineers and jobsite administrator.
