Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Project Engineer II to independently manage project-engineering responsibilities on heavy civil construction sites. You'll coordinate field execution, cost tracking, and documentation to ensure deliveries meet cost, schedule, quality, and contract requirements.

You will travel to active sites, collaborate with project management and field leadership, mentor junior staff, and support risk management and project controls across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in construction estimating, engineering, or field support.
• Experience managing project-engineering responsibilities including controls and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage project-engineering activities from planning through completion.
• Interpret plans, specifications, drawings, and contract requirements for field execution.
• Identify, document, and resolve design questions and field conflicts.
• Coordinate layout, measurements, elevations, quantities, and other field activities.
• Manage quantities, production tracking, costs, forecasts, and project performance data.
• Support budgets, job controls, reporting, and cost analysis.
• Coordinate material planning, procurement, deliveries, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Maintain project records, logs, and documentation; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Travel to active construction sites; work on-site as required.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and contribute to safer, more efficient practices.
