Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Project Engineer II to independently manage project-engineering responsibilities supporting delivery of heavy civil construction projects, including controls, field engineering, cost tracking, and documentation. This is an on-site, project-based role requiring travel and close collaboration with project management and field leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 2+ years in construction estimating or field support.
• Ability to independently manage project-engineering responsibilities including project controls and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of field operations, costs, schedules, and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Experience interpreting plans, specifications, and contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage project engineering activities from planning through completion.
• Interpret plans, specifications, and contract requirements for field execution.
• Coordinate layout, measurements, elevations, quantities, and field engineering work.
• Manage quantities, production tracking, labor, equipment, costs, forecasts, and reporting.
• Support development and maintenance of budgets and job controls.
• Coordinate material planning, procurement, deliveries, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Mentor Project Engineer I and other team members; share knowledge.
