Job summary

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Central Region Construction & CIP Support, is seeking an Engineering Assistant 3 to support project engineers in supervising field work and on-site coordination in Anchorage.

The role involves field inspections, project documentation, materials testing, contractor pay estimates, and liaison with the Contracting Officer to uphold plans and standards while traveling within the state and sometimes outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying from ABET-accredited program with two years related experience.
• Or a non-ABET degree with an Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certificate or FE passing and two years related experience.
• Substitutions: four years of ABET-related education/experience may substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site project engineering tasks and supervise assigned staff.
• Provide on-site agency representation and maintain continuous inspection of contractor activities.
• Perform field inspections, project documentation, materials testing, and contractor pay estimates.
