Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering is seeking a Project Engineer 3/4 to lead on-site design and construction support for large-scale infrastructure and security projects in Los Alamos, NM. You will act as technical liaison between project management, design teams, physical security engineers, and construction management.

The role covers the full engineering lifecycle from definition and design through commissioning, turnover and closeout, with on-site accountability and emphasis on safety,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of project engineering experience in commercial infrastructure or government-adjacent facilities.
• Proficient with ProjectSight, Delta, Aproove, and MS Office.
• Willingness to work 100% on-site and be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
• Experience leading design, field execution, turnover and closeout in high-consequence facilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate security and infrastructure design interfaces across disciplines.
• Use Aproove for design review approvals and iterations.
• Conduct constructability reviews for high-security projects.
• Lead combined Project Engineer and Field Engineer functions.
• Integrate multidisciplinary design work across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and security systems.
• Manage technical document control, submittals, and RFIs on-site via ProjectSight.
• Track scheduling milestones and ensure secure component handoffs and testing.
• Maintain quality control metrics and conduct routine field inspections.
• Mentor junior engineers on-site and guide technical decisions.
• Maintain visibility of deliverables, approvals, and critical-path actions.
