Job summary

Silgan Containers in Houston, TX is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee production, quality, safety, and resource control on the floor. You will train personnel, maximize throughput, maintain equipment, and ensure adherence to standard practices for quality and efficient, safe manufacturing.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of supervision experience in a plastic process facility, a High School diploma (technical degree preferred), and strong leadership with SPC knowledge.

• Experience with SPC and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Production floor oversight for production, quality, safety and resources.
• Train personnel, including new or displaced workers.
• Maximize throughput with efficient use of labor and materials.
• Maintain equipment to prevent downtime.
• Follow standard practices for quality and efficient operation.
• Spend 60–80% on the floor; address problems on the spot.
• Review production reports and correct substandard performance.
• Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, on production issues.
• Administer standards and procedures to meet efficiency.
• Direct and assign work to employees for optimal use.
• Know and apply safety procedures; update staff.
• Inspect work areas daily for unsafe conditions and fix.
• Investigate accidents and near misses; timely documentation.
• Enforce safety rules and take corrective actions.
• SPC knowledge and continuous improvements.
