Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer – Java Developer to join our Rancho Bernardo, CA team on site. The role requires full‑time on‑site work with no remote option and occasional travel up to 25%.

The position demands experience in Java development, XML/XSD/XSLT, Maven, and agile collaboration, with TS clearance and SCI eligibility. Responsibilities span design, integration, testing, and deployment within an IFC framework.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of related engineering experience or Master’s with 0 years.
Bachelor’s in STEM with 5 years of related engineering experience or Master’s with 3 years or PhD with 1 year.
Experience developing Java microservices, web services and/or desktop applications.

Responsibilities

Develop, integrate, test and maintain desktop and web applications and backend services as part of an Integration Functional Capability (IFC).
Collaborate in an engineering environment with other software teams, hardware team, and system test team.
Identify technical risks and opportunities, and proactively develop mitigation plans.
Communicate progress and accomplishments to senior leadership.
Create and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to ensure stability and quality throughout the software development life cycle.
Work in a process‑oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle.
Show strong desire to learn new things and adapt when required.
