Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Software Engineer/Principal Software Engineer – Java Developer to join our team on site in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The selected candidate will be required to work full‑time on‑site with no remote or hybrid telework available. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, test and maintain desktop and web applications and backend services as part of an Integration Functional Capability (IFC).
- Collaborate in an engineering environment with other software teams, hardware team, and system test team.
- Identify technical risks and opportunities, and proactively develop mitigation plans.
- Communicate progress and accomplishments to senior leadership.
- Create and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to ensure stability and quality throughout the software development life cycle.
- Work in a process‑oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle.
- Show strong desire to learn new things and adapt when required.
Basic Qualifications
- Level2: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 2years of related engineering experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0years of related engineering experience.
- Level3: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5years of related engineering experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3years of related engineering experience; or a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1year of related engineering experience.
- Experience developing Java microservices, web services and/or desktop applications.
- Experience with XML/XSLT/XSD and XML technologies such as JAXB and XPath.
- Experience with Maven.
- Strong collaboration and excellent verbal and written communication skills using Confluence and Jira.
- Familiarity with Agile development (sprint planning, retrospectives, Scrum).
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility, with a background investigation within the past 5years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Current applicable SAP clearance.
- Experience working with Postgres, CloudNativePG, Elasticsearch, MongoDB or Redis.
- Experience interfacing with a messaging service such as JMS, ActiveMQ or Kafka.
- Experience developing containerized software.
- Experience automating tasks using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell or Python.
- Experience creating/maintaining DevOps CI/CD pipelines: Maven, Bamboo, GitLab, Bitbucket.
Salary and Benefits
- Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00.
- Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00.
- Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
