Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a phlebotomist for a full-time position at a client site in Dubuque, IA. Shifts are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The candidate should have phlebotomy certification or related experience and be able to work in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or one or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls code as appropriate.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records and reports findings.
• Label and process specimens according to established protocols and policies.
• Procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients.
• Ensure timely communication of test orders, results, and updates to staff.
• Travel to additional sites when needed.
