Responsibilities include patient interaction, proper packaging for transport, and maintaining accurate records. Requires certification and at least 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience; benefits may be available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain clearly the venipuncture process to patients and demonstrate techniques with straight or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% label accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples per protocol to maintain integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and communicate lab results to satisfy inquiries.
