Job summary

Providence Swedish in Seattle is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to help patients understand financial responsibilities, explore payment options, and access resources with dignity. This on-site role partners with care teams to resolve private-pay financial matters and improve the patient experience.

You will educate patients on costs, calculate deposit estimates, and communicate clearly while delivering compassionate service in a high-visibility role within Swedish Health.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required or equivalent experience substituted for no degree.
• 3 years experience in patient financial services or medical billing in a hospital business office, or 5 years of experience without degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all patient financial obligations for private-pay accounts.
• Explain payment options and estimated costs of care.
• Calculate, communicate, and collect patient deposit estimates in accordance with organizational policies.
• Partner with physicians, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to address patient financial concerns and facilitate resolutions.
• Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints, ensuring issues are documented and resolved effectively.
• Build positive relationships with patients and families by providing empathetic, customer-centered support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance service, processes, and patient experience.
