Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Pleasanton Outpatient Center is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to be the first contact for patients and providers. This on-site, full-time role focuses on organizing daily activities, verifying insurance, and handling paperwork to keep the practice running smoothly.

The position offers on-site work with training, competitive benefits, and a stable schedule. You’ll join a collaborative team dedicated to efficient patient access and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience or equivalent.
• Willingness to work on-site at Pleasanton Outpatient Center.
• Ability to work Monday-Friday 7:30am–4:00pm including weekends/holidays and OT as needed.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits on all assigned accounts.
• Contacts payers directly to determine coverage levels using approved scripts.
• Identifies outstanding balances from previous visits and attempts collection.
• Trains staff on computer systems, payer updates and reporting.
• Acts as Superuser for primary computer systems in the department.
• Leads process improvement opportunities within the department.
• Works on special projects as needed.
• Performs duties of a Patient Access Representative.
• Keeps knowledge of admission, registration, and pre-registration requirements up to date.
