Job summary

Sophos in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an On-Site Network Engineer to join our Network Security Group. The role focuses on building, supporting and deploying lab hardware and software to support development and QA teams.

You will manage Linux servers, firewalls, VPNs and lab infrastructure, document processes, and maintain inventory using Infrastructure as Code practices. Onsite availability is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with servers, OS, security appliances in a data center.
• Experience with Linux CLI, networking protocols, and lab inventory tooling.

Responsibilities

• Install, network and configure firewall appliances, servers and other hardware in the labs.
• Install necessary software (Linux distributions) in a reproducible manner.
• Ensure maximum lab uptime meeting internal SLAs.
• Support engineering teams in product development and testing.
• Perform root cause analysis of lab infra challenges.
• Diagnose and fix hardware or software problems in supported systems.
• Configure and maintain networking and site infrastructure (switches, routers, VPNs).
• Implement improvements to existing Labs Infrastructure.
• Document work activity in Jira and plan with Scrum methods.
