Job summary

Omega Plastics Inc. in Clinton Township, MI is seeking a Mold Technician to join on-site manufacturing operations.

You will perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molding dies, disassemble/clean/reassemble tooling, inspect components, and keep detailed records to ensure production-ready molds that meet quality standards. The role requires 3+ years in tooling maintenance or related manufacturing, a high school diploma or GED, and technical training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training in tooling, machining, or mold maintenance preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with plastic injection molds or tooling maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on plastic injection molding dies according to established maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, lubricate, and reassemble molds and related tooling components.
• Inspect tooling components for wear, damage, or performance concerns.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, including work performed, observations, and parts replaced.
• Ensure molds are production-ready and meet quality standards before being returned to the floor.
• Assist Toolmakers and Tooling Technicians with mold repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications as needed.
• Replace worn components such as springs, pins, bushings, inserts, and other tooling components.
• Support root cause analysis of tooling-related production issues.
• Assist with mold change preparation and tooling setup support when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the toolroom and mold storage areas.
• Follow all safety procedures and proper handling practices for molds and tooling equipment.
• Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling maintenance and reliability.
• Communicate maintenance concerns or improvement opportunities to leadership.
• Support production and maintenance teams as needed to resolve tooling issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
