Job summary

Vital Plastics LLC is seeking a Tooling Technician to maintain, repair, and support production tooling. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose mold/tooling issues, and implement upgrades to improve reliability.

The role involves coordinating tool repairs with Engineering, updating DelmiaWorks ERP, and ensuring safety and cleanliness on the shop floor. Strong attention to detail and OSHA knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to diagnose or troubleshoot various molds.
Ability to read mold and part prints.
Ability to use test equipment (multimeters, calipers, micrometers).
Ability to operate a forklift and move heavy equipment.
Good communication skills.
Strong OSHA and safety requirements.
Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

Implement and complete preventative and predictive maintenance programs for production tooling.
Follow preventative maintenance procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
Disassemble, clean, lubricate, inspect, and reassemble injection molds and tooling.
Perform insert changes according to production scheduling requirements.
Diagnose and troubleshoot injection mold and tooling issues, including minor repairs.
Troubleshoot, design, and implement tooling upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
Update the Preventive Maintenance Module in the DelmiaWorks ERP System.
Maintain inventory of essential tooling replacement parts.
Coordinate with Engineering regarding outside tooling repairs and services.
Assist with check-in and evaluation of new or transferred tools.
Provide tooling support to production to minimize downtime.
Provide backup support to the Tooling Lead.
Clean and maintain tooling maintenance equipment and work areas.
Maintain a safe and organized work area per housekeeping standards.
Ensure a safe work environment and follow OSHA requirements.
Work independently while communicating with team members and Engineering.
Perform other duties as assigned.
