Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to join our on-site service team in the Charlotte area. You will maintain client fleets and handle service calls at customer locations, delivering expeditious expertise directly to trucks and equipment on site.

The role emphasizes diagnostic work, preventative maintenance, and adherence to safety standards. A CDL is preferred but not required, with opportunities for professional growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMCSA.
• ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections.
• Manage inventory on the service truck and keep vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and follow daily assigned duties.
• Be available for after-hours service calls and flexible work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory tools needed for diesel engine maintenance.
• Read job order and assess vehicle operation to plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to perform repairs.
• Diagnose and replace components such as injectors, pistons, bearings, clutches, brakes, transmissions.
• Document all work in the company computer system accurately and timely.
• Check protective guards, bolts, and safety devices; make adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify conformance to specs by test driving.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Communicate with customers about repairs and future services.
• Advise customers on repairs to be done within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
