Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service client fleets on-site, performing diagnostics and repairs with a focus on reliability and customer satisfaction.

You will handle preventative maintenance, manage service-truck inventory, and use diagnostic tools to identify issues, documenting all steps in our system. The role requires CDL and FMVSS awareness, with growth opportunities within Rush Truck Centers across the US.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVSS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and an open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the tools required for maintaining diesel engines and related equipment.
• Read job orders and observe the vehicle to plan work procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunctions and perform correct repair procedures.
• Diagnose, remove and replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, hubs, diffs, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, transmissions and other parts.
• Document and perform diagnostic functions in the company computer system.
• Inspect guards, bolts, and safety devices and make adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs meet specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Submit paperwork accurately in the mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs or services due within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
