Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years in related roles or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers, with strong communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
• 10+ years in mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations; or 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience with chilled water systems, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, piping, and mission-critical environments.
• Knowledge of specifications, codes, and industry standards; strong field problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Conduct daily site observations to assess installation progress and workmanship.
• Coordinate design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Support RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Review equipment layouts, utility routing, and trades coordination.
• Participate in BIM coordination, constructability reviews, and mockups.
• Document installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with factory testing, commissioning startup, and QA/QC coordination.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly progress reports highlighting observations, risks and actions.
