Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The role serves as the field representative for mechanical systems, coordinating between construction and engineering design teams to ensure installation, issue resolution, and commissioning preparation for critical mechanical infrastructure.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of mechanical design/construction experience, or 5+ years in hyperscale data centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping, and other mechanical systems.
• Perform daily site observations and assess installation progress and workmanship.
• Coordinate mechanical design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Facilitate responses to RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Support reviews of equipment layouts, utility routing, and coordination between trades.
• Participate in BIM coordination activities and mockup evaluations.
• Identify installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
