Job summary

AIC is seeking an on-site accountant to own the books for a manufacturing portfolio company. You will manage day-to-day accounting, cost and inventory control, and the month-end close while coordinating back-office tasks and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

This hands-on role requires independent organization and a focus on accuracy in a fast-paced production environment. You will work directly with the portfolio company team, sit on-site five days a week, and report through the AIC structure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including full ownership of a month-end close.
• Manufacturing accounting experience — inventory, WIP, standard cost, job costing, and variance analysis in a production environment.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the judgment to know when it actually matters at this size of company.
• Comfortable being the only accountant in the building. You set your own priorities, close your own gaps, and escalat early rather than late.
• Fluent in an ERP and in Excel. You've survived at least one system that didn't work the way the vendor promised.
• Willing to own back‑office administration beyond the ledger — benefits, onboarding paperwork, payroll — and organized enough that it never crowds out the close.
• An accountant, not a finance professional. This is not an FP&A or corporate development role.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day accounting for a real operating company. AR, AP, collections, payroll journal entries, and GL.
• Get inventory and cost right. Valuation, cycle counts, standard costs, and variance analysis.
• Bring an inherited set of books onto AIC's standard with a close checklist.
• Handle the accounting side of the deal and what follows, including tax and lender reporting.
• Support customer and contract requirements with proper invoicing and cost tracking.
• Run the back-office administration including benefits, onboarding, and payroll.
