Job summary

The State of Florida, Department of Management Services, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Ft. Lauderdale to perform a range of building maintenance tasks, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work.

You will execute routine preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, and document time and materials used on work orders. Ideal candidates have two years of maintenance experience or vocational training in mechanical repair, with safety procedures and blueprint reading skills.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment.
• Vocational/technical training can substitute for experience at 720 hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
• Visually inspect equipment daily and report any unusual wear or noise to supervisor.
• Fill out work orders for maintenance and repairs and track time/materials.
• Maintain mechanical rooms and equipment in immaculate condition.
