Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day contract logistics operations, guiding Supervisors and frontline teams to meet service, safety, and cost targets.

You will use dashboards and KPIs to drive performance, manage workforce planning, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer commitments are met. Applicants should have 5+ years in transportation or related logistics, with Lean/Six Sigma experience and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Education: Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or related field; HS diploma acceptable.
• Experience: 5+ years in transportation, supply chain, 3PL/contract logistics, or similar ops environments.
• Leadership: demonstrated experience leading supervisors or multi-level teams in high-volume operations.
• Technical: proficient with dashboards, KPIs and ERP/WMS/TMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations across areas, shifts, networks, or value streams to ensure service commitments.
• Drive disciplined execution aligned with customer requirements and site objectives.
• Serve as escalation point for service, quality, throughput, or routing issues.
• Lead safety culture; enforce safety policies and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT).
• Manage workforce planning, staffing, scheduling, and productivity targets.
• Monitor costs and provide cost visibility; support budgeting and forecasting.
• Lead, coach, and mentor Supervisors and frontline teams; drive continuous improvement.
